AI startup Rocket offers vibe McKinsey-style reports at a fraction of the cost

In an exciting development for entrepreneurs and businesses, Indian startup Rocket has launched a groundbreaking platform designed to assist companies in formulating product strategies akin to those produced by top consulting firms. Named Rocket 1.0, this innovative platform combines research, product development, and competitive intelligence into a cohesive workflow, providing detailed strategy documents that encompass pricing, unit economics, and go-to-market recommendations.

Rocket, based in Surat, India, aims to address a significant gap in the tech industry. As AI coding tools become increasingly prevalent—ranging from platforms like Cursor and Replit to advanced coding features like Claude Code and Codex—writing code has transformed into a more accessible task. However, as Rocket co-founder and CEO Vishal Virani points out, the real challenge lies in understanding what products to build. He states, “Everyone can generate the code now… it has become a commodity. But what to build is something which everyone is missing.” This distinction highlights the necessity of strategic thinking in addition to technical capabilities.

TechCrunch had the opportunity to trial Rocket's platform prior to its official launch. The platform was able to generate product requirement documents in PDF format based solely on user prompts. Notably, these documents resemble traditional consulting reports, diverging from vibe-coding tools or chatbots that primarily center on feature execution.

While the platform's analysis is robust, it is worth noting that some insights appeared to be synthesized from existing data sources, including known pricing models and user behavior patterns. This indicates that users may still need to conduct their due diligence to verify the outputs before making critical business decisions. To address potential concerns, Virani mentioned that human support is available if users run into issues.

Rocket's platform also offers competitive tracking capabilities, monitoring changes to competitor websites and analyzing traffic trends. The platform draws from over 1,000 data sources, including Meta’s advertising libraries and Similarweb’s API, alongside its own data crawlers, ensuring a comprehensive approach to market analysis.

Subscription plans for Rocket's platform are competitively priced, starting at $25 per month for basic application building. The $250 plan includes the ability to generate two to three “McKinsey-grade” research reports alongside product development, presenting a cost-effective alternative to traditional consulting, which can charge thousands for similar services. The top-tier offering, priced at $350, incorporates extensive competitive intelligence features.

Since raising a $15 million seed round in September from notable investors such as Accel, Salesforce Ventures, and Together Fund, Rocket has experienced significant growth. The startup's user base has surged from 400,000 to over 1.5 million across 180 countries. They reported an annualized average revenue per user around $4,000, although specific numbers regarding paying customers were not disclosed. Impressively, Rocket operates with gross margins exceeding 50%, and approximately 20% to 30% of its customers are small to medium-sized businesses.

Rocket is strategically positioned for future growth, boasting a team of 57 employees and maintaining operations in both Surat and Palo Alto. By offering a unique blend of AI-driven insights and strategic business recommendations, Rocket is poised to redefine how companies approach product development in an increasingly competitive landscape.
